The crying about the 04-29 update is still loud, but it stopped being the room. Mood sits at 57, up five from yesterday and three above the seven-day average, and the threads carrying weight today are people coming back from Riven Tides saying it's fine, actually. The Bettina is suddenly good. The map is pretty. Turbines still drop garbage. That last one is the only complaint that has survived contact with the patch.
The clearest tell is u/ExpendableUnit123's post, titled "The amount of gaslighting about this update is crazy." It sits at 968 with a 0.71 ratio and 549 comments, which is exactly the shape of a thread where the argument is live and the OP is winning on points. The top reply is from u/daypxl: "the new map brought me out of spring poverty and it's pretty so I like it. my only issue is the absolute GARBAGE that turbines drop." That sentence is the column.
The Bettina is no longer the joke gun
u/NoiD1988 floated a "probably unpopular opinion" that the Bettina has graduated from meme status. 1,437 upvotes, 0.96 ratio, 296 comments. Not unpopular.

The consensus in the replies is more specific than the post: ammo stacks to 60 now, durability holds, and the gun reads as armor-piercing in practice. u/Exe0n's note that it shreds Shredders and Comets but feels weak on Wasps and Pops is the version that keeps getting upvoted, because it explains why the same gun feels broken to one raider and trash to the next. It's the first patch in a while where a buff actually changed who people loadout. Embark spent months nerfing the cheap meta down. They finally pulled one of the sad guns up.
The Riven Tides map itself is taking its lumps in good faith. u/Narkotixs's "THIS MAP MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!" - resort next to a shipping dock - got dunked on by a lore reader within the hour and is now a 916-point joke at the OP's expense. The serious version of the complaint is 's asking Embark to widen the playable area. "The entire beach ought to be in bounds," reads the top comment, and that is the only structural critique of the map with traction today.

"It's never: "Oh this feels bad to use? Let's buff it up." It always ends up being: "This feels bad to use? Let's nerf everything else to the same level so you have no alternatives.""

"It's a great gun now, everyone takes it out, and shoots a wasp, or pop and says it's trash. This is an armor piecing weapon."

"The entire beach ought to be in bounds; I agree."
