Today's front page is not a crisis. It's an accumulation of small indignities, and the most damning indictment of Embark's priorities sits in the middle of it: a post about the Chinese version that reads like a menu for a restaurant we're not allowed into.
The top thread, at 617 points and a 0.8 ratio, is a plea written in all caps: DEAR EMBARK: NOBODY EVER EVER EVER EVER WANT TO SPAWN IN AT 18 MINUTES. u/TinyerGriffin lays out the frustration of dropping into a map ten minutes late, already picked over, surrounded by players who had a full head start. The top comment, from u/Cwh11860, proposes a simple fix: "18 min should just be free kits." At 272 points, it's a pragmatic surrender. Nobody wants to spawn in late, but if it's going to happen, at least make it not matter. The thread is a complaint that's been lodged for months, and the response now is less outrage than weary agreement.
Four slots down, a video shows a different kind of bad faith. u/FriendsAreEvil posted Imagine letting your own team die just to steal their loot, a clip of a teammate standing idly over two downed raiders, waiting for the revive timers to expire so he could scoop their gear. The post sits at 389 points with a 0.94 ratio, and the comments are a mixture of disgust and dark humor. u/Loud_Student_6337 recounts a similar betrayal, only to outwait the thief with a Survivor augment for 20 minutes. "He eventually left and realized he's not getting shit which made me happy," they write, at 238 points. The video itself is short and grim: a figure in a mask just stands there. The betrayal is the point.
That kind of social rot keeps the subreddit's temperature just above simmering, but what pushed it into a different register today was a post about content we're not getting. u/oissevalt's thread on translated a demo from June 12 that showed off events like "Hurricane," "Sandstorm," new ARC types, and a suite of weapons and items. The thread has 228 points and 112 comments, but the top comment is what everyone felt: "Dang that's like a year of content and item releases from Embark. We're getting hosed," writes at 356 points. The Chinese version, run by a different publisher, seems to have a roadmap. Ours is a meme about Embark taking another vacation.
